Turnberry has just landed a powerhouse in luxury hospitality—Mary Rogers has officially joined as Executive Vice President of Hospitality Operations. And we’ve got the scoop! We bumped into Mary at the Nice airport and got the inside story during our car ride to Monaco for the Forbes Travel Guide Summit. With a career spanning over two decades, leading some of the most prestigious hotels and resorts in the U.S. and the Caribbean, Mary’s arrival at Turnberry signals an exciting new chapter for the company’s hospitality division.

A native of Ireland, Mary got her start with The Ritz-Carlton Company as a trainee, rising through the ranks across luxury hotels and resorts before making history as the first female General Manager of Fontainebleau Miami Beach. There, she oversaw a staggering 1,500 rooms and drove revenues north of $300 million. She then took her talents to Montage Hotels & Resorts, where she swiftly climbed to Managing Director and Area General Manager, overseeing multiple properties in California. Now, at Turnberry, she’ll be leading hospitality operations, ensuring guest experiences remain top-tier while bringing fresh energy to the company’s portfolio.
Turnberry’s Bold Growth Strategy
Turnberry itself is on a major growth trajectory, expanding its already impressive portfolio of hospitality, retail, residential, and commercial properties. The company, led by Chairman and CEO Jackie Soffer, owns and develops large-scale properties, including the 533-room JW Marriott Nashville, the massively popular Aventura Mall with over 30 million annual visitors, and Destin Commons, a 500K+ square-foot open-air lifestyle center in Northwest Florida. The company is also developing an 800-key hotel connected to the Miami Beach Convention Center in partnership with Terra Group. Additionally, Turnberry is collaborating with LeFrak on SoLé Mia, a 184-acre community in North Miami featuring residential towers, retail, restaurants, and the innovative Laguna SoLé, a 7-acre swimmable Crystal Lagoon®.

In a company memo sent yesterday, Aly-khan Merali, President and Chief Financial Officer, noted, "Mary brings an exceptional track record of operational excellence and strategic leadership. Her expertise will be instrumental as Turnberry continues to expand and innovate across our hospitality portfolio. We are thrilled to welcome her back and look forward to her contributions."
Why Mary Returned to Turnberry
But what drew Mary back to Turnberry? In her own words, it was an opportunity she couldn’t pass up to work alongside a visionary leader.
“I have always admired Jackie—her strategy, ambition, and the way she has expanded Turnberry into a dynamic force in real estate. She has taken what she learned from her father and forged her own path, leading transformative projects across hospitality, retail, and residential development. It’s inspiring to be part of her world.”
For Mary, returning to Turnberry is not just about hospitality—it’s an opportunity to broaden her expertise in real estate.
“I’m excited to work closely with Jackie and expand my knowledge beyond hotels. Learning more about construction, design, and leasing—understanding how strategic decisions shape a development’s success—will be invaluable as we continue to grow Turnberry and for my own career development.”
Hitting the Ground Running
As she steps into this role, Mary will oversee all aspects of Turnberry’s hospitality operations, with divisional hospitality leaders and area team members reporting directly to her. She's already hitting the ground running representing Turnberry at the Forbest Travel Guide Summit in her first week! Her next immediate plans are to visit the properties, meet the teams, and ensure a seamless transition.

Congratulations and wishing you lots of success, Mary!
