Last weekend was so chock full of “catch-up” phone calls with friends, that even when my earbuds were out, it felt like they were still in! And although the nature of our conversations differed, a common theme emerged with all of them––IGNORING RED FLAGS.
In February, I unpacked this topic in my column which, by the way, they all had read and referenced during our various conversations… unsolicited by me. Interestingly, each one of these wonderful women seemed apologetic––even ashamed of themselves––when recounting how they saw the red flags but chose to ignore them anyway…something I know all too well, so no judgement from me!
And this got me wondering, yet again, what makes smart women ignore red flags? Why do we continually allow ourselves to mistrust the instincts we know to be true in order to pursue an outcome we know will be detrimental to us?
Why do we continually allow ourselves to mistrust the instincts we know to be true in order to pursue an outcome we know will be detrimental to us?
I have some thoughts on the subject, and if you do too, please share them with me because I would love to do a follow-up column!
In the meantime, I hope that republishing my original column will be a good reminder of WHY YOU NEED TO HEED THE RED FLAGS.
